Sky Frames

Premiered at the Antigonight Festival, September 2026
Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada

Sky Frames is an interactive outdoor light and sound installation consisting of six illuminated rectangular frames acting as viewfinders of the horizon and night sky, and a continuous soundtrack. Visitors are invited to wander through the installation, pausing at different frames to isolate changing views of the sky and surrounding landscape. The piece invites you to slow down, move at your own pace, and notice how your perception shifts over time.

The sound component combines field recordings (nighthawks and various angles of the seashore) taken from the coastline of British Columbia. Every so often, the sounds of the sea swell and cover smaller details within the soundscape before clearing again. As the ocean sound cuts out, familiar sounds emerge with renewed clarity, inviting listeners to experience the environment differently than they did before.

The installation runs continuously on a seamless loop throughout the event with audience members free to enter and leave the installation at any point.
